Today, last day of deliveries for this Phase of our project Al Cole en Bici. In the North, we travel from Upala to Sarapiquí, Heredia, where we visit the Liceo Rural Salvador Durán Ocampo in Puerto Viejo, and Liceo Rural La Conquista in Horquetas.
In the Southern region, the road leads us to La Casona, and next to Las Damas in Quepos.
In Puerto Viejo they had prepared a nice surprise: little boxes, made by the students, with a bicycle on top of them, to remember the event by.
Example of vocation: La Casona is located in indigenous territory. The indications of care against the coronavirus are given the local language ngöbe, and teachers wear indigenous dress so that the female students feel they can identify. Moreover, due to the lack of internet (and sometimes even of telephone signal) in the college, the school’s orienter gives the last-year students appointments in her own house, so they can carry out the inscription process for the admission test in the public universities of the country. The commitment of teachers and director towards the students bears fruit…the college has some of the highest regional averages among its pupils.
